Heat and football

Should I let you decide which is the worst? Because I really can't make up my mind.

I am not necessarily complaining that it's nice weather. And above all, nice weather in the weekend. Not even 40 degrees, just 30 or so. Good for sunbathing, good for swimming. Good for relaxing Saturday afternoon under the shadow of a nut tree. Yes, all beautiful. Not when you come back to Brussels though, and in your flat you find more than 30 degrees and a totally unbreathable atmosphere. And that has happened every day during the last week or so, and it won't finish here. It will gradually change though, and not due to temperature decrease, but because we are going to move, and very soon! In less than 2 months that is, but cleary that is soon!

What has football to do with it? Well, it is the second biggest reason for insomnia lately. Good weather encourages all sorts of behaviours from the international football fans in Brussels. Which are the loudest? Isn't it obvious? The Italians have really made our nights a hell!! Friday evening for example, all Italian population in Belgium, and I doubt I'm exagerating, was on the main boulevard in Brussels, which is 2 streets from where we live. Honking and Italian-style-driving should give you an idea of what happened till the early hours of the morning. And this was fortunate, since we could sleep out on Saturday. But tomorrow evening, it's going to be hell. Of course unless our good friends the Germans show them some style and make them shamefully silent... Deutschland! Deutschland!

Welcome to my world!

Okay, it is not too hot in my flat - at the moment 23.5°C - and I can relax in the garden! In Germany everything seems to be related to this black and white ball at the moment: "Die Welt zu Gast bei Freunden!" Germany is under siege - crazy people from all over the world celebrate on the streets, honk all night and are having the greatest party ever. I was in Berlin last week when Germany played against Poland and the atmosphere is very hard to describe - phantastic is way too weak! I am not a football fan, but one cannot escape this HonkyTonk and I start to enjoy it with all the others in the country and not just because the Germans reached the semi-final!
So just join in the celebrations!

yes, I am sure that I would feel like that if my country's team would desirve it. But my point was, that the only nation that really managed to annoy me during this world cup was Italy. I mean, Germany won as well that evening, I haven't heard the happy fans throughout the night. They may do whatever in Germany, yes, but why terorise other countries? :-)

As I said, I will then join the celebrations of Germany's victory on Tuesday.

It must be the heat...

Good to know the German team now also can count on your support. On Friday they already had some Mexican supporters as they wanted to see Argentina lose (Mexico was beaten by Argentina before). I hope they won't disappoint you making the Italian fans somewhat quieter.

But as Nadja said: If you can't beat them, join them;-)

Sorry that we were not able to live up to your expectations and I hope the Italians were not too loud. I watched the game with many other people at a public viewing in Bamberg. Well, it is sad, but we all had a great time and we did not surrender!
